The Kick Off Meeting of the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) was a continuation of the G20 Workshop of DEWG held in Jakarta one week earlier. Chaired by Minister of Communications and Informatics the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkominfo) H.E. Johnny G. Plate, the meeting was organized in a hybrid manner at 5-star Hotel Grand Hyatt Jakarta. More than 100 participants were present in person and approximately 200 participants from G20 member countries and international organizations joined the meeting virtually. The meeting aimed to streamline digital issues across working groups and engagement groups to bring about cross-sector collaboration and synergistic cooperation. Several experts from global academic partners also attended the meeting to present the outcome of their research on the respective 3 priority issues raised in the DEWG, such as (a) Connectivity and Post-COVID-19 Recovery, (b) Digital Skills and Digital Literacy, and (c) Cross-Border Data Flow and Data Free Flow with Trust. At the end of the meeting, an agreement to create a legacy for Indonesia in the global digital economy was ratified. It aimed to mark the beginning of the entire series of G20 DEWG meetings.
