The IMT-GT (Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle) Minister and Governor Forum in Batam, Riau Islands, is viewed as a unifying event for the nation. It is believed to enhance synergy among countries in the ASEAN region. The Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs, H.E. Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, stated that IMT-GT envisions becoming an integrated, innovative, inclusive, green, and sustainable region by 2036. The growth of the corridor's economy in the IMT-GT region is expected to strengthen synergy, particularly in the tourism sector. IMT-GT is one form of Sub-Regional Economic Cooperation (SREC) involving three Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. This cooperation was established in 1993. The members of this cooperation are geographically adjacent regions, with Indonesia consisting of 10 provinces on the island of Sumatra. The primary goal of this cooperation is to reduce economic disparities among the regions included in the IMT-GT cooperation. Held at the Marriott Harbourbay Batam Hotel, more than 500 delegates attended this four-day event.
