Every year, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) organizes the Subroto Award, a prestigious accolade presented to stakeholders who have demonstrated outstanding performance in advancing the energy and mineral resources sector in Indonesia. In 2023, the ministry hosted the Subroto Award Ceremony at the Renaissance Nusa Dua Bali Hotel, attended by more than 100 award-receiving companies. There are several award categories presented by the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (EBTKE). One of them is the Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Performance Category and Geothermal Engineering Subcategory for Unproduced Working Areas. Additionally, there is also the Environmental Pollution Control Category with the Produced Working Areas Subcategory. The event was enlivened by the Sekar Jepun Dance as a welcoming dance and a special performance by one of Indonesia's Divas, Ruth Sahanaya. The Subroto Award is inspired by Prof. Dr. Subroto, a prominent figure in the mining and energy sector in Indonesia, who served as the Minister of Mining and Energy from 1978 to 1988 and as the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) from 1988 to 1994.
