Indonesia hosted the 16th Senior Officials Meeting on Transnational Crime at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta. Officially opened by the Chief of Indonesian Police, General Badrodin Haiti, the meeting was attended by more than 190 delegates from 10 ASEAN member countries and 10 dialogue partners including China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, the European Union, Canada, New Zealand, Russia, and the United States. The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation in combating transnational crime by improving border security in the ASEAN region against crimes such as terrorism, illicit drug trafficking, people smuggling, arms smuggling, sea piracy, illegal fishing, illegal goods, and trafficking in wildlife and timber.
