JAKARTA, 22 September 2026 — Belarus and Indonesia are looking to strengthen tourism exchanges and people-to-people connections, with visa-free travel expected to create new opportunities for visitors, tourism businesses and travel industry stakeholders in both countries.
The opportunities were highlighted during a National Day Reception hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Indonesia at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, bringing together representatives of the Indonesian Government, diplomatic missions, business communities and other partners.
The reception was hosted by H.E. Dr Raman Ramanouski, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Indonesia, who expressed his appreciation for the continued friendship and cooperation between Belarus and Indonesia.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ramanouski highlighted the considerable potential to develop two-way tourism between the two countries. He expressed hope that the visa-free arrangements would encourage more Indonesian travellers to visit Belarus and attract more Belarusian visitors to Indonesia.
According to the Ambassador, simplified travel arrangements can provide an important foundation for expanding tourism cooperation while encouraging greater people-to-people exchanges, cultural interaction and business connections.
The development of convenient air connectivity was also identified as an important factor in supporting future tourism growth. Improved connectivity, combined with easier travel arrangements, could make both destinations more accessible to travellers and create new opportunities for tour operators, destination management companies, airlines and other tourism stakeholders.
The reception was also attended by Dr Ketut Jaman, Managing Director of Melali Bali DMC, who said he was honoured to participate in the event following an invitation from Ambassador Ramanouski.
Dr Jaman welcomed the Ambassador’s focus on tourism cooperation and said there was considerable potential for tourism stakeholders from Belarus and Indonesia to work more closely together. He highlighted opportunities to promote Indonesia, particularly Bali and other Indonesian destinations, to the Belarusian market, while also introducing Belarus as a potential destination for Indonesian and wider Asian travellers.
Stronger tourism exchanges could contribute not only to increased visitor arrivals but also to broader cultural understanding and commercial cooperation between the two countries. For the tourism industry, the development of new source markets and stronger international partnerships could open opportunities for travel packages, destination promotion, business events and other tourism-related activities.
The National Day Reception therefore served not only as a diplomatic occasion but also as an opportunity to explore new avenues for tourism cooperation and international market development between Belarus and Indonesia.
Belarus celebrates its official Independence Day on 3 July, commemorating the liberation of Minsk from Nazi German occupation in 1944. The Jakarta reception on 22 September was held as a diplomatic National Day celebration, providing an occasion to highlight the friendship between Belarus and Indonesia and to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation, including in tourism.
Ambassador Ramanouski expressed his appreciation to Indonesian partners for their contribution to strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation, while highlighting the potential for deeper engagement between the two countries in tourism and other areas of mutual interest.
